I got a fun little story for ya.

Friday I was in a pissy mood cause I felt like I had so much to do and so little time. And I was starving, which was probably adding to it (lol, doesn't it always?) so I decided that since I was going there for a meeting, I'd hit Big Dog early and eat.

It was the best decision. I walked in and a sign said 'Today's Drink Special $4 Margarita.' My immediate thought was THAT would be the perfect attitude adjustment I need right now! So I walked up, ordered the margarita on the rocks, salted rim... and after viewing the menu ordered up a pulled pork sammich, fries &, because I was feeling particularily fat ass, a side of mac & cheese. When it arrived, I doused the sammie with bbq sauce... and I swear it was the best lunch EVER!!

And I'm not saying this because they're a new client of mine, but gol DAMN that was some good bbq. I'm going to even venture it's better than Bert's AND Slow's. And a lot closer to home. When I told the pitmaster it was the best bbq --and HOLY CRAP the mac & cheese!!! --he was very gracious and shared how he came about making everything. Not so much the recipe, but how he did it all. And man... the work that went into making everything shows in the outcome. EVERYTHING is scratch.

So if you're craving some que, seriously head to Big Dog on 10 Mile just west of Schoenherr in Warren. I'm trying to figure out what night I'm going to dinner there this week!!!

I like Slow's bbq, but I really LOVE their Mac and Cheese, but good to know there's a good 'que place around. Wouldn't have expected it out of what I thought was a sports bar, not a 'que joint!

The other place that's supposed to be really good locally is on Groesbeck, just north of 696? Looks like a little dive next to the gas station there. They were at the Detroit Tastefest or whatever it's called, and talk about mmm mmm good! Nice and spicy baked beans with chopped pork on top... and awesome upside down pineapple cake!

Lazybones. Been hearing lots of good things about them.
